How to Upload Your Horse Coaching Video
Alternative Horsemanship™ with Samantha Harvey — The Remote Horse Coach
Step-by-Step Video Upload Guide
Would you like to participate in an Alternative Horsemanship™ remote horse coaching video assessment, evaluation, and instruction session, but feel unsure about filming or uploading your video? Don’t worry — it’s simple! Follow the steps below, even if you’re not “tech-savvy.”
🎥 Step 1: Film Your Horse Session
- Use your phone to record your video — a tripod works great, or have a friend help you film.
- Wear light-colored clothing so you are visible in the video.
- Keep the sun or light source behind the camera (not behind you).
- Stay within about 100 feet (30 meters) of the camera for clear visibility.
- Video length: around 15–20 minutes. You can film several shorter clips if needed.
✂️ Step 2: Edit Your Video (Optional)
Many students like to combine a few clips into one video. You can easily do this with the free app YouCut Video Editor:
Get YouCut for Android Get YouCut for iPhone
- Open YouCut and import your clips.
- Trim or combine as needed.
- Mute the sound before saving the final version.
- When saving, choose at least “Medium” quality (1080p or higher).
- When finished, YouCut will give you the option to upload directly to YouTube.
📺 Step 3: Upload to YouTube
- If you don’t have a YouTube account yet, create one by following Google’s instructions: Create a YouTube Account.
- Sign in to YouTube and click the plus icon (bottom center).
- Select “Video.”
- Choose your saved video file and wait for it to upload.
- Create a Title.
- When asked about visibility, choose “Unlisted” (so only people with the link can view it).
- Click “Upload.”
- After the video has uploaded, click "You" in the bottom right corner.
- Click your Channel (profile) Icon (top left of screen).
- Click on the uploaded video. "Share" and click "Copy Link" and paste the link on the Sign Up form below.
📞 Step 4: Sign Up for a Video Consultation
After registering, you’ll receive call-in details. Sam will review your video before your session. During the call, you’ll watch your video together — pausing to discuss techniques, communication, and improvements.
💾 Step 5: Receive Your Recorded Session
After your consultation, you’ll receive a link to download the recorded session, so you can rewatch it anytime for ongoing learning and reflection.
💡 Final Tip
Don’t be intimidated! Many students who thought they “weren’t good with technology” have found this process much easier than expected — and incredibly valuable. Reviewing video together allows you to focus more deeply on your horsemanship awareness without the distractions of riding in the moment.
